So I accuse the Belgian government of complicity in war crimes.
I accuse it of moral failure, of legal negligence, of hiding behind silence while lives are erased in Gaza.
In 2023 and 2024, while genocide is happening in Gaza, Flemish authorities approved license for components used in F-35 fighters jets, the same jets that bombed Rafah, Khan Yunis and Jabalia.
It is a clear violation of international law. Under the Arms Trade Treaty, Belgium must not export weapons where there is a clear risk they will be used to commit violations of human rights or international humanitarian law.
That risk is not just clear, it is happening every day, live streamed, documented by UN agencies, human rights groups and journalists on the ground.
We must speak of full boycott, cultural boycott, political boycott, and diplomatic isolation.
Artists around the world have refused to play in Israel. Over 30, 000 creatives signed on boycott the apartheid. But Belgian festivals like Tomorrowland and Franco Fully continue to host Israeli acts backed by state institutions, even while Palestinian artists are killed, arrested, and silenced.
I accuse the government not only of complicity but of betrayal of our values of human rights of international law. Let us remind the Belgian state that people are watching and people are mobilizing.
three days ago, a Brussels court ordered the government of the Flemish region to block a specific container carrying dual-use items to Israel, and also to halt all further transit of military material to Israel for its ongoing genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza. To the Belgian government, I say, end all the military cooperation with Israel, immediately and permanently. Cancel the arms deals. Cut ties with the state.
To the people, artists and public, refuse to perform on blood-stained stages, demand your festivals take a stand, speak, protest. This is your money, taxes, your government, your voice. Use it. I will accuse and we will keep accusing until Belgium is no longer complicit. Free Palestine.
