When the bunnies on your shorts no longer refer to anything…
(dedicated to Jana)
Once you hopped like a bunny in the field,
With soft, small paws, your joy unconcealed.
Your laughter rang like the song of the breeze,
As you danced through the flowers with effortless ease.
You’d skip and you’d jump, a heart full of grace,
In a world that was warm, a bright, happy place.
Your feet moved fast on the earth so wide,
Before the fires of war took all you’d confide.
But now, still as stone, your soft steps are gone,
Your bunny’s light heart did fade with the dawn.
Once full of life, now a shadow in time,
Your laughter a memory, like toys left behind.
